BROVANA is taken with a nebulizer, a device that converts liquid medicine into a fine mist you inhale by breathing through a mouthpiece or mask. A nebulizer (also known as a jet nebulizer or a compressed-air nebulizer) is powered by a small air compressor. It's a common way for people who have difficulty breathing to take their medicine.
A nebulizer treatment with BROVANA takes about 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day; all you do is sit back, relax, and breathe. To learn how use a nebulizer, click here. If you still have questions, talk with your healthcare provider or respiratory therapist.
Important things to remember
- Be sure to read the Medication Guide provided with each package of BROVANA.
- Do not mix BROVANA with any other medications in your nebulizer, and don't take BROVANA if you are using any other medicines that contain a long-acting beta2-agonist.
- BROVANA works over a long time period. Be sure to carry a short-acting bronchodilator with you at all times in case you have breathing problems between doses of BROVANA.
- If you need to use your short-acting bronchodilator more often than usual, or if it does not work as well at relieving symptoms, or if your breathing problems worsen with BROVANA, call your healthcare provider right away.
- Do not change or stop any of your medicines to help control or treat your COPD breathing problems. Your healthcare provider is the only one who should adjust your medicines.
- You take 1 dose of BROVANA twice a day; once in the morning and once in the evening, about 12 hours apart.
- Each dose comes in its own pre-measured vial.
- You should not take BROVANA more often than prescribed.
- If you miss a dose, skip that dose and take the next one at your regular time.
How to store BROVANA
- Store BROVANA in the protective foil pouch under refrigeration at 36°F-46°F (2°C-8°C). Protect from light and excessive heat.
- Unopened foil pouches of BROVANA can also be stored at room temperature 68°F-77°F, (20°C-25°C) for up to 6 weeks. If stored at room temperature, discard if not used after 6 weeks, or if past the expiration date, whichever is sooner.
- After opening the pouch, unused unit-dose vials should be returned to, and stored in, the pouch. An opened, unit-dose vial should be used right away.
- BROVANA is a colorless solution. Discard any unit-dose vial if the solution is not colorless.
